This request would fund the federal share of the Preconstruction Engineering and Design phase for the Pearl River Basin, MS project.

The purpose of this authorized ongoing project is to reduce flood damages to homes, land, roads, bridges and other public infrastructure, as well as address environmental justice and environmental health issues within the Yazoo Backwater Area. Funding above the Budget Request will be used to continue work on the remaining unconstructed features of this ongoing project, which is intended to protect lives, property, and the environment.

Hardens the electrical distribution system by placing the entire system underground to include feeder #5066 and initial sections of feeders #5026, and #5036. In addition, installs back-up generators to nine (9) identified mission critical facilities. Completion of this project will result in hardening 40% of the critical mission facilities against interruptions to the electrical distribution grid.
