This request is for capital improvements at CAMBA's Winthrop Street locations including 19, 23, 25 and 27 Winthrop Street, Brooklyn, New York 11225. The buildings were constructed in 1928 and are in need of extensive repairs. CAMBA operates or administers 27 direct human service programs at these locations using a combination of funding streams from New York State and New York City.

CAMBA provides life-stabilizing services out of our Winthrop Street locations by helping up to 5,000 vulnerable New Yorkers access supportive housing or stay in their homes annually. These buildings are currently in disrepair and our contracts for these services to do not cover the expense of rehabilitating the facilities. Our client population is very low income, disadvantaged, and diverse and the repairs are necessary for the safety of our staff, clients, and the vulnerable New York City const

CAMBA seeks to create a Green Jobs Training program under our Workforce Development Department that would bring in green industry experts to provide technical training, sector specific industry recognized credentials, and green energy expertise. Our goal in the first year is to place a minimum of 40 unemployed and underemployed New Yorkers unduly impacted by the pandemic onto green services career paths that provide family-supporting wages, benefits, and real advancement potential.
