Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County
The Food and Nutrition Team at Eskenazi Health will establish Medical Meals & Jobs, a sustainable program that provides medically tailored meals for Central Indiana residents with chronic health conditions. This program will also provide food service job training. Funding will support procurement of kitchen and production facility equipment. The need for medically tailored meals far exceeds the current capacity of kitchen resources at Eskenazi Health. Funding will capitalize a new USDA inspected kitchen capable of producing meals at scale and with a financial margin to support job training. A single capital outlay coupled with existing expertise will launch a sustainable program to improve nutrition and employment in Central Indiana which makes it a valuable use of taxpayer funds.
