Orange County Board of County Government
Orange County is requesting $500,000 to support the design and construction of Orange County's largest Floating Solar PV project and education and innovation center at the Utilities & Customer Administration Building. This comprehensive project will benefit our Orange County Utilities' customers by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving on utility costs by 70% per year. It will also play a key role in educating county residents about renewable energies, water technologies, water conservation, and electric vehicles. Orange County residents, businesses, and interested parties will be able to access the facility and take educational tours to learn about floating solar technology and water conservation. The Utilities Department is intending to support the project with ongoing operations and maintenance costs beginning in January 2023, along with $300,000 support the energy and innovation program. Orange County has the capacity to increase the match funds in order to ensure project success.
