Project Description

BCFWC\u2019s patient population has grown tremendously over the years and thus they have outgrown their space. In fiscal year 2021, BCFWC was budgeted to provide care to 8,155 individuals and actually provided care to 8,964 unduplicated patients resulting in 52,166 annual visits, with four thousand two-hundred fifty-eight (4,258) patients identified with one or more chronic disease. BCFWC continues to have an influx of new patients due to their marketing efforts, aggressive outreach activities, and their ability to provide more mental health, substance abuse, and dental services on site.\n\nTheir services have decreased the number of patients visiting emergency rooms for non-urgent and routine care, increased accessibility of health services for the community, and met the unmet health needs of the Greater Englewood residents who are low-income, uninsured and underinsured. \n\nThe building expansion project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will enable BCFWC to meet the immediate, mid, and long-term community healthcare programs and activities that provide treatment and/or promote health and healing as a response to individual, community, and public health needs. The facility expansion will increase and improve access to care, health outcomes, reduce patient wait time, responds to needs of special populations such as persons living in poverty and other disenfranchised persons, provide increased education, resources, services and support, create an overall healthier community, provide more office space, increase staffing by 15 allowing them to better serve the health needs of our patients and communities.
