Project Description

The CDS was reinstated to meet the urgent needs of communities, which Perspectives is actively addressing. Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) and Health Facilities and Construction and Equipment funding must be targeted toward promoting the ability of families to thrive through financial self-sufficiency to reduce poverty and promote healthy development - and greater well-being of children and families. A perfect fit for Perspectives. Our goal is synonymous with the committees. We exist to return women and children emerging from homelessness, mental trauma, and substance abuse back to the social and economic mainstream. Our target population\u2019s creativity and problem-solving skills are focused solely on survival, without the support and structure of our services the mothers and children we serve cannot flourish. Our services were greatly needed even before the pandemic, but since COVID, the division of those who have access to resources compared to those who do not have significantly widened. Specifically affected are the children who lost at least two years of educational and emotional development. Afterschool funding is needed to bring underserved children to grade level and employment training for the mothers. Congressionally, in 2023 spending should be targeted at those most affected by COVID-19. Hundreds of mothers in our community are struggling to climb out of addiction, poverty, and trauma. They desperately want to break the cycle for themselves and their children. We can help them. We have done so for decades, and with help, we\u2019ll continue for decades to come.
