Project Description

The funding would be used for a comprehensive study which engages a multitude of users and stakeholders to ascertain a cost-effective and efficient means of satisfying aeronautical and non-aeronautical demand in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner over the planning period consistent with local, regional, and national aviation goals while ensuring equity and inclusion for all communities within Indianapolis and Central Indiana. IND's Airport Master Plan forms the basis for all future decisions and acts as a guide in the development of IND and its environs. A primary goal of IND\u2019s Airport Master Plan will be to provide the framework needed to coordinate airport improvements with local and regional planning to ensure equitable access through resilient and sustainable development. \r\n\r\nBeyond being the guide for the development of IND, an approved Airport Master Plan is required to obtain FAA AIP Grant funds which is needed to maintain IND\u2019s infrastructure as well as plan for and implement future improvements. \r\n\r\nThe initiative is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because transportation systems, in general, provide multiple benefits to local and regional communities, individuals and employers. These benefits include, but are not limited to, increased mobility for all individuals, reduced congestion and emissions, and economic growth. Investment in the IND Airport Master Plan will encourage economic development as well as provide greater opportunity for equity and inclusion for our community.\r\n
