Project Description

"The Town of Hampton, home to Hampton Beach, is an important driver of economic activity in the First Congressional District. Hampton Fire Rescue, Police, and Public Works Departments provide for the emergency medical care, fire protection, safety and security, law enforcement, wastewater treatment, solid waste removal, environmental protection, and roads for one of the Seacoast Region\u2019s principal tourist destinations. \r\n Efficient, reliable emergency and routine communications are crucial in allowing the Town of Hampton to provide these essential services. Our services impact not only the Town of Hampton but extend into other First Congressional District communities. Hampton Fire Rescue is the dispatch agency for Hampton Fire Rescue, Hampton Falls Fire Department, and serves as the backup dispatch agency for the North Hampton Fire Department. Collectively these communities are home to 22,217 residents and nearly $5.5 billion in assessed valuation. All three communities are in the 10-mile emergency planning zone (EPZ) around the Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant and rely on the Hampton\u2019s aging communications infrastructure. The Hampton Police Department sees an extensive influx of state, county, and local police presence during the summer months. This cooperative law enforcement effort requires a communications system that supports interoperability across agencies. \r\n Hampton, particularly our beach district, faces several important potential emergency management hazards. We are subject to regular coastal storms that result in major flooding, most are nor\u2019easters, but hurricanes are a real threat as well.
