This project will benefit a historically underserved community within the Fifth Ward and the East End through the transformation of an under utilized post-industrial area into a publicly accessible outdoor park space. Japhet Creek Park will ultimately become a unique regional activity center and community attractor. The project will also enable connections between the Fifth Ward and a variety of other Buffalo Bayou East improvements underway on the southern side of the Bayou. This project will benefit a historically underserved community adjacent to the Fifth Ward and within the East End through the transformation of an un(der) utilized post-industrial area into a publicly accessible outdoor park space. The Silos are thought to become a unique regional activity center and community attractor. The project will also facilitate improved connectivity, through inter-park trail connections, between Downtown Houston, Tony Marron Park, and other proposed Buffalo Bayou East improvements further east and across the Bayou to the north in the Fifth Ward.
