Project Description

The City requests assistance for this project due to the incredible need and rapid timeline needed to complete the work. The Town Creek Treatment Plant is currently permitted at 3MGD and the current rectangular clarifier is obsolete and doesn\u2019t function properly as well as the existing biological reactor is limited hydraulically and no longer effective at ammonia removal. The City of Bardstown is experiencing rapid growth in residential and industry that flows to this plant thus requiring expansion to 4MGD. The numerous distilleries that are planning expansions that will come online in the next 2 years require our facility to be able to handle that growth and stay compliant. As the Bourbon Capital of the Word, Bardstown needs to be ready and able to accommodate the treatment needs of our community and bourbon industries. This if for the health of our community, environment, utility, and local economy. The City is committed to matching up to 50% of the project costs but due to other projects needs we need assistance for the other 50%. Our Lincoln Trail Area Development District\u2019s Water and Wastewater Planning Council has already supported this project and it is part of the regions Intended Use Plan. \nWe have letters of support from our industries when we planned to apply for an EDA grant, however, those funds were committed to other projects before we were able to apply.
