Village of Centertown
A central wastewater collection and treatment system does not exist with residences and businesses operating individual septic systems or lagoons. In late 2008, the village hired a consultant to review the feasibility of constructing a centralized wastewater collection and treatment system for the residents and businesses within the village limits. At the time, the wastewater project was cancelled by the board because it was determined that constructing a system was not feasible due to the financial burden it would place on the community.\nIn 2018, the board conducted a new survey in conjunction with a survey for a new water tower to remedy the issue of low water pressure within the village. The overall cost was again a determining factor for the wastewater project being tabled till additional funding options could be accessed. There is a well documented need for the environment to convert to a central wastewater collection system. A system will correct problems arising from aging and undersized on-site systems. The additional funding combined with FY22 dollars and state funds will help the Village of Centertown reach the total amount needed to complete their project.
