City of Waterbury
The USEPA conducted a pilot research study in which Waterbury was one of the targeted communities. They researched the change in the count of annual extreme heat days over time by block group and their draft findings suggested that over the time period of 2040-2059, the area surrounding census tract 3510 could see an increase in up to 12.4 extreme heat days. It is imperative that our communities have access to recreational water opportunities and cooling stations throughout the City in order to mitigate climate change effects & ensure equitable access to resources.
