Project Description

West Milford Township Emergency Services (Police, Fire, OEM, DPW) are in advanced stages of planning a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, emergency communications radio system to replace the antiquated system currently in use. Slated for Fiscal Year 2023, this \u201cshovel-ready\u201d project is designed to provide the critical infrastructure necessary to handle all events of an emergency, while enhancing safety of township first responders. Ultimately, the expected outcome of this project is to seamlessly handle all emergency events from a basic motor vehicle stop to a mass casualty incident. \r\n\r\nThis project is on track to be executed Fiscal Year 2023, which is in accordance with this CPF Grant Opportunity. This project will only take one year to complete. The West Milford Council has already approved the $5.5 million dollar budgeting on this project, which previously had been one of the largest hurdles. The audit conducted by Allegiant Wireless, LLC (see below) covered all deficiencies and needed upgrades, which also helps streamline the process.\r\n\r\nIn December of 2021, \u201cAllegiant Wireless, LLC\u201d was retained by West Milford Township to evaluate its emergency radio communications systems and recommend alternatives and solutions to address existing system deficiencies. Allegiant primarily focused on:\r\n\r\nExisting Radio System Technology & Topology\r\nRF Coverage\r\nFCC Licensure\r\nExaminations of Existing Tower Sites & Support Infrastructure\r\nDispatch System & Operation\r\nExisting Backhaul\r\nSubscriber Equipment\r\n\r\nAt the conclusion of evaluation, Allegiant Wireless, LLC provided a comprehensive monetary breakdown of item descriptions, unit costs, quantities and ultimately arrived at a net total cost estimate of $5,428,125.00, (audit available upon request, see below for budget breakdown). Included in this study, Allegiant Wireless, LLC made many recommendations to bolster the proposed infrastructure, while placing emphasis on the fact the current technology was obsolete.\r\n
