Project Description

"The funds will be used to update our aging communications center (now 18 years old). We recently completed a town-wide radio upgrade project (police, fire and EMS) and added a third dispatch console. Currently, that radio console is on a desk not designed for emergency dispatch operations. We have other vital equipment without a designated area, specifically our Mutualink system. Mutalink allows us to communicate with our fire department and state and local agencies in a major incident all in ONE platform. Our Mutualink system is currently in an area that would interfere with our normal dispatch operations if a major incident were to occur.\r\n \r\n The Town of Londonderry has two major exits off of Interstate 93 (Exit 4 and 5; EACH with its own bus terminal), three major state roads (Routes 102, 128 and 28), and a residential population of about 30,000 people. The LPD is also responsible for policing the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, the largest airport north of Boston. As our community continues to see explosive growth in both the residential and business sectors, and with the recent highway expansion of additional flight services to the airport (Spirit Airlines), we see the need to expand our communications center soon.\r\n \r\n These funds would cover the cost of new dispatch desks (replacing two) and adding a third dispatcher workstation to meet the current needs of the agency. It would also cover the cost of three new computers and monitors. It would also cover the cost of three new high performance workstations which would comply with our CJIS specifications and offer increased security. All network enhancements will be in compliance with CJIS and CISA recommendations. This project would also help us meet our strategic goal of serving as a communications center for all of Londonderry\u2019s public safety services."\r\n \r\n
