Project Description

Community project funding will help El Centro de la Raza acquire three adjacent parcels of property located in Federal Way. These parcels are west of property El Centro de la Raza owns and a property currently being leased by the organization. The acquisition will enable El Centro de la Raza to develop all five properties as a master plan to build housing, child care and other mixed uses including community space and offices for the provision of programs and services.\n\nEl Centro is a trusted community organization that responds to a broad range of community needs among children, youth, adults, and seniors with 43 culturally and linguistically integrative programs and services, including emergency and human services, child and youth programs, financial education and asset building programs, housing and economic development programs, community organizing, advocacy and culture programs.\n\nThis property acquisition will benefit low- and moderate-income communities that El Centro de la Raza serves in South King County and addresses an urgent community need to provide services in South King County where 56% of the Latinos in King County reside and where a desert of culturally integrative programs and services exists. El Centro de la Raza\u2019s master plan to establish a community center on the property that provides space and programming to Federal Way and the South King County area addresses this need.
