For many years, the economy of Chambers County, Alabama has been impacted by the loss of manufacturing (mainly textile) jobs. As a result, the leadership of Lanett and Chambers County has focused upon transitioning its economic base. The County is working in tandem to assist cities in the county to be able to take advantage of higher skilled jobs that are less susceptible to outsourcing solely sue to low cost labor to diversify its economy. All local entities have invested a substantial amount of money to make Exit 77 the hub for future development.
