Baylor College of Medicine

The USDA/ARS Children\u2019s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston is one of six USDA/ARS Centers in its Human Nutrition Research Program. The CNRC is the largest nutrition research center in the Nation devoted to the optimal nutritional requirements of pregnant and lactating women and to the related requirements for infants and children from conception through adolescence. It is also likely the largest such center in the world with this expansive pediatric nutrition research focus. Its diverse research program encompasses fundamental plant studies in its research greenhouse to human medical nutrition through its faculty members who practice at Texas Children\u2019s Hospital, the country\u2019s largest children\u2019s hospital, that is a fully integrated partner joined to the Center via overpasses and tunnels linking the institutions. \nThe greater Houston community and the nation will benefit from the research and recommendations being developed in our five primary \u201cresearch directive\u201d areas:\n1. Nutritional metabolism in mothers, infants, and children\n2. Pediatric clinical nutrition\n3. Childhood obesity prevention\n4. Developmental determinants of obesity in infants and children\n5. Molecular, cellular, and regulatory aspects of nutrition during development
