Fox Valley Park District
Post-pandemic, the public's demand for access to rich outdoor open spaces and bicycle and pedestrian trails has never been higher. The project eliminates a major barrier to trail access to and between a vast network regional trails and to the extraordinary ecosystem variety, recreation, and outdoor education opportunities at Lippold Park and the surrounding riverine environment. \nAdditionally, as fuel and other transportation costs continue to rise along with the demonstrated need to reduce general carbon emissions, demand for efficient non-motorized transportation options has also risen. The proposed bridge not only provides a vital link in the regional trail network, but it also introduces a direct bicycle and pedestrian connection between businesses and neighborhoods on the east side of the Fox River with businesses and neighborhoods on the west side of the river.
