Claflin University

Claflin University (CU), the oldest historically black college/university (HBCU) in the state of South Carolina, has played a key role in the awarding of science and mathematics degrees to underrepresented minority groups, particularly African Americans. The college has a long tradition of providing basic education in the sciences for underrepresented students. In February 2022, U. S. News and World Report ranked Claflin University #7 among regional colleges in the South. \r\nThe School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics strategically planned and developed an enhanced vision of academic programs with greater emphasis on research, scholarly contributions and creative activity thereby increasing student preparedness. The new science and technology center will expand the in-house research infrastructure to allow more students to participate in bench-top cutting-edge research. In addition to producing a pipeline of globally competitive students majoring in the Department of Commerce and NIST program priority areas, this new building will allow faculty to work with students as researchers and scholars.\r\n

Procurement pursuit intelligence

This project has been enacted. FFID maps funded projects to likely downstream procurement channels — including recipient portals, state and local systems, agency programs, and Grants.gov. SAM.gov is monitored, but many CPF/CDS-funded opportunities appear first through recipient or state/local procurement systems.
