The purpose of the project is as follows:\n\u2022\tAddress MBTA reliability and modernization needs: Short-term the improvements allow for increased service frequency. Long-term, the project enables the MBTA to implement future high-frequency subway-like service using electric trains on the Worcester Line, as envisioned in the MBTA\u2019s Rail Vision plan.\n\u2022\tProvide ADA accessibility through a combination of ramps, stairs, and elevators, providing equitable paths of travel for all.\n\u2022\tImprove current operations by providing full-length, two sided high-level platforms for level boarding. \n\u2022\tImprove station amenities including new benches, canopies, bike storage, etc.\n\u2022\tImprove connections to local roads and existing parking areas.
