This authorized coastal storm risk management project was due for a periodic nourishment in FY22 but did not receive funding. Funding has not been budgeted for FY23 and so Community Project Funding is being requested to ensure that this need is addressed. It has been 6 years since the last nourishment and the beach is in a severely eroded state, leaving the beach unusable at many points during high tide, and leaving the community exposed to the risk of storm surges. This project is strongly supported by the various municipalities that constitute the Long Beach Island community.
