Project Description

Hannibal School District and several regional\nindustries want to expand their Career and Technical Center into a Regional Innovative\nCampus. This new facility will allow both existing and new technical programs to be\nexpanded which are desperately needed to address the regional job demand while\nproviding high quality good paying jobs. It will be a state-of-the-art facility that will\nprovide the space needed to educate many more students that are unable to receive\ntechnical education due to space limitations and eliminate waiting lists in career and\ntechnical programs. This facility will also enable new programs that are in demand to be\nprovided in addition to allowing for adult education opportunities by utilizing the\nresources and space on the campus.\nStudents have shown an increased interest in programs in the health services programs.\nHannibal School District has collaborated with local hospitals and clinics to ascertain\ntheir needs to support their workforce. The regional campus will provide opportunities to\nintroduce nursing programs and expand other existing programs that are in great demand\nin the Northeast region.\nFinally, Hannibal School District has collaborated with local community colleges along\nwith other colleges and universities in the region. The introduction of an Early College\nProgram would provide opportunities for students to obtain an associates degree prior to\ngraduating from high school.\nThe Hannibal Regional Innovative Campus is desperately needed to help address regional\nworkforce needs in Northeast Missouri. This campus will increase opportunities for\nstudents in 6 area school districts, adult learning opportunities, and regional employer\nneeds. Furthermore, it will allow opportunities to keep our kids locally employed,\naddress significant workforce deficiencies, and create opportunities to expand economic\ndevelopment opportunities in the Northeast region.
