Virgin Islands Police Department
This project would fund the purchase of three marine enforcement vessels by the Virgin Islands Police Department to assist with the interdiction of drug-trafficking related criminal activity through the Virgin Islands. The vessels will also assist with safety patrolling local waters, which have seen a significant uptick in recreational vessel traffic in recent years. The Virgin Islands Police Department requires marine-capable law enforcement capacity because the Virgin Islands is surrounded by water as an island territory of the United States. $1,445,093 is the approximate cost of each of the three marine enforcement vessels. Therefore, I am requesting a total of $4,335,279 for this project. This project is a sound use of taxpayer funding because it will ensure the safety and protection of life and property of inhabitants and visitors across the four main inhabited islands of the Virgin Islands: St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John, and Water Island.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n
