Project Description

This software makes it possible for colleges to articulate American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations (for military training/coursework) with college courses and share those articulations with other Military Articulation Platform (MAP) colleges. Veterans can earn up to one year of college credit for their military training/experience, which speeds up college completion and saves money while expanding career opportunities. RCCD's MAP system also accommodates credit for prior learning (CPL) for civilian students. Funding will provide for the formation of college support and training; continued development and user support of the platform; and innovations that extend MAP functionality to facilitate all forms of credit for prior learning as well as the creation of a nationwide common course numbering system to ensure portability of CPL transcripting, transfer, and adoption of articulations between institutions. Once scaled throughout California, this project is intended to be rolled out nationwide with the goal of making it normal and expected for all veterans and students to receive up to a year of transcripted credit for their military training, certifications, and work experience.
