Logan City
The Logan City Wastewater Treatment plant serves not just the City of Logan and Utah State University but several surrounding communities that have shared use of the community-wide wastewater system for decades. The system underwent a multimillion-dollar upgrade after the EPA ruled the prior system was not meeting the updated standards for phosphorus and nitrogen. \n\nTo comply, the City of Logan took on a long-term bond obligation of over $100m to implement upgrades to meet the new EPA standards. Without this, the entire system and all the participants would have been non-compliant.\n\nThis funding will be used to purchase a fourth biodigester, thus completing the upgrades to the system, bringing it into compliance, and ensuring stability for years to come.
